Some people seem to have their life’s path written for them at birth, or so I once believed. I was living the path written for me by my parents to the fullest. By the time I was 19 years old I found myself undereducated, homeless, and working on a severe case of alcoholism. The first thing I did in the morning was to take a drink of anything I could get my hands on, this was also the last thing I did at night before I passed out where ever I could. During the summer of 1997 I was arrested for outstanding traffic warrants. I did not have the money to post bail or pay the fines so I sat in jail for the next 3 weeks…this was the best 3 weeks of my life. During this time I got clean and put a plan in action so that I wouldn’t have to continue on the same path. It took a few years but, I educated myself, started a prosperous career and discovered that I could succeed at anything I set my mind on. Self realization and determination were my savior, and art was my happy place where the troubles of my world seemed to melt away. Now art is my passion and my career and is only superseded by my beautiful wife and daughter.
